**The USS Requin will be open from 10 am-5 pm from September 2 - 6.

State-of-the-art and battle ready when she set out just days before the end of World War II, USS Requin holds the distinction of being the Navy’s first Radar Picket submarine.

Exploring Submarine Science
All aboard the USS Requin! Dive into the science of submarines and the forces they encounter while traveling the world’s oceans. Explore a real Cold War-era submarine, and learn about the technologies that allow them to traverse the ‘seven seas’! Discover oceanography, propulsion systems, periscopes, Morse code, and more! A perfect opportunity to go behind the scenes of our submarine, USS Requin, and into areas rarely seen by the general public! See how these amazing vessels and their crew faced challenges and life underwater, and dive into the science and technology of submarines both past and present. Please note: USS Requin requires full physical mobility. A virtual tour is available in the main lobby for those visitors unable to navigate the ship. The Requin is moored on the Ohio River at Carnegie Science Center. It may close without notice due to weather or river conditions.
